SURFACE PREPARATION
Firstly, remove anything that is in you way. You want the area you are painting to be free from clutter and unnecessary furniture. Cover any furniture that can’t be moved, if you can move this furniture into the middle of the room, this will give you a clear path around the room.
Remove any nails, picture hooks and light fitting covers safely before painting.
Make sure the surface you are painting is clean, paint will not cover stains or marks.
Dust your walls lightly.
For previously painted walls, wipe them down with sugar soap, making sure all marks and stains have been removed.
Dry the wall off with a rag.
Now that your surface is clean, make sure that there is no flakey old, cracked paint. Remove flakey cracked paint with our 5 in 1 combination tool. The scrapper device on this is ideal for removing things like flakey paint and can be found in our Online Paint Accessory Store.
Next make sure all cracks and dints and gaps are filled with the appropriate filler for your surface.
Be careful not to use to much filler, our 5 in 1 combination tool is also idea to use for filling gaps in corners.
Use a damp cloth to wipe off any excess filler from the surface.
Allow the filler to dry completely.
Now lightly sand over the filled areas to give it a smooth finish.
After sanding ensure you once again wipe down your surface to ensure no impurities are left behind to affect your paint finish.
